"50.000 tourists"

On 16 December 2011 in Warsaw will be held the International Conference on the European Commission initiative "50.000 tourists". This initiative is the implementation of recommendations included in the Commission Communication entitled "Europe, the world's No 1 tourist destination - a new political framework for tourism in Europe", COM (2010) 352, in particular prevention of seasonality, increased availability of jobs, strengthen the image of Europe and cooperation with third countries.

Informal Meeting of EU Sport Ministers

On 13-14 October 2011 in Kraków the Polish Presidency’s most important event in the field of sport, the Informal Meeting of EU Ministers Responsible for Sport, was held. The meeting was also attended by representatives of EU institutions (the European Parliament, the Commission and the General Secretariat of the Council) and international sports organisations, including the President of UEFA.
19th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization

From 8 to 14 October 2011, in the South Korean city of Gyeongju the 19th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was held. The session was attended by over 1000 delegates from 120 countries, including Poland.
Council of Europe’s recommendation on match-fixing

The Council of Europe fights against match-fixing. On 28 September 2011 the Committee of Ministers of EPAS (Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport) adopted a recommendation on promotion of the integrity of sport against manipulation of results, notably match-fixing. This is the first such document adopted on a broad European forum. Poland actively participated in the works on it.
Tourism in Kraków

From October 5 to October 7 2011, Kraków was the centre of European tourism. On these days, the Małopolska Region’s capital hosted the 10th European Tourism Forum as well as the most important event of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union – the Informal Meeting of EU Ministers responsible for tourism.

Football Summit Meeting

On 20 September 2011, Minister of Sport and Tourism Adam Giersz met with
a delegation of the Association of European Professional Football
Leagues which represents the interests of 30 European football leagues
grouping nearly 1000 clubs. The meeting was held within the
consultations under the Polish Presidency of the EU Council on the
Polish priorities in the field of sport, which include fight against
match-fixing and good governance in sport.
Sports Volunteering in Warsaw

An expert conference entitled "From volunteering to leadership in sport", organised under the Polish Presidency, was held in Warsaw on 13-14 September 2011. The conference was attended by over 200 participants from 22 countries. Its aim was to promote sports volunteering as one of the most popular forms of social activity. The conference was one of the events organised by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism in connection with our country's Presidency of the Council of the EU.

On September 8th, 2011, during the 21st Economic Forum in Krynica, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Sport and Tourism Katarzyna Sobierajska signed the Protocol on Sustainable Tourism to the Framework Convention on the Protection and Sustainable Development of the Carpathians.
