Conference of “Orlik” under the motto “Let’s win together”
On February 18, 2009, the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Mirosław Drzewiecki, took part in the conference of the “My Sports Filed - Orlik 2012" programme held under the motto: “Let’s win together”. The conference was also attended by approx. 1000 representatives of local governments who carry out investment in 2009.

On February 9, 2009, the Minister of Sport and Tourism, Mirosław Drzewiecki, took part in a press conference on the ministerial budget for 2009. The conference was also attended by Adam Giersz, the Secretary of State, and Katarzyna Sobierajska, the Undersecretary of State.

Report on the condition of tourist economy in 2004-2006 The report on the condition of tourist economy was prepared following the document titled "Tourism Development Strategy for the Years 2001-2006. A Governmental Tourism Support Programme for the Years 2001-2006." The objective of this study is the diagnosis of the condition of tourist economy in Poland in the years 2004-2006. The report is a part of the monitoring of the implementation of tasks defined by the tourism development strategy. The report describes tourism management in Poland, the position of tourism in the national economy, tourist traffic, the situation of business entities in the market of tourism-related services, the system for granting tourist guide and tour leader licenses, passenger transport, tourist and para-tourist infrastructure and barriers for the development of tourism in Poland in the years 2004-2006.

FIRST 2008 RESULTS SHOW FIRM TOURISM DEMAND
ADVANCED RESULTS FROM THE UNWTO WORLD TOURISM BAROMETER JUNE 2008 International tourism grew at around 5% during the first four months of the year - one percentage point above the long-term trend. All subregions had positive results - fastest growth in the Middle East, North-East and South Asia, and Central and South America. Uncertainty over the global economic situation is affecting consumer confidence and could hurt tourism demand. For 2008 as a whole, UNWTO maintains a cautiously positive forecast. Madrid, 1 July 2008 - According to the June edition of the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, the first results for 2008 suggest the relative stability of international tourism. In spite of uncertainties posed by the global economy, international tourist arrivals grew at around 5% between January and April 2008, compared to the same period of 2007.Minister Drzewiecki opens the 100th “Orlik” sports field
Today, on the 17th November 2008, the Minister of Sports and Tourism Mirosław Drzewiecki has opened the hundredth complex of sports fields built under the governmental and self-governmental programme named „ My Sports Field – Orlik 2012” in the town of Giżycko, in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.
Paralympic Gala
On November 17th 2008, the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Gala was held in Warsaw. The event took place under the honorary auspices of the Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski and was attended by, among others, Undersecretaries of State in the Ministry of Sports and Tourism: Katarzyna Sobierajska and Tomasz Półgrabski.
Tomasz Holc is the Vice-President of the ISAF

Stanisław Stefan Paszczyk dies
On November 12, 2008, aged 68, in Warsaw, died Stanisław Stefan Paszczyk, the former president of the Physical Culture and Tourism Office and the Polish Olympic Committee.
